Holiday Cards are Here!!!... |Bay Area Photographer

Ok... if you can believe it or not it is already that time of year again, Holiday time! Family sessions are already being booked so email me quickly to get your preferred date and time!

I also wanted to let everyone know about the "Holiday Family Session Package":
$375 + tax per session
Location of your choice (your home, park, or favorite location around the bay area! Within reason of course ;) )
...and the best part! It will include 25 free Holiday Cards!

Great deal! Right?!

Here's how it will work:
After viewing your online gallery... you let me know your favorite family photo/child portrait from the session. From there I will create 3 different proofs which I will email you. Once you have your favorite proof selected, let me know and poof!... they will be sent off for print and delivery!

Some Thing to Note... AKA "The Fine Print":

~This Holiday Family Session Package will be offered from October 29th thru November 27th (this ensures delivery time for the holidays) You can of course book sessions after November 27th, but the holidays cards will not be offered seeing as I cannot guarantee print and delivery in time for the holidays :)

~Each of these cards are 5x7 lay flat cards with room for your Holiday note on the back!... Or if you are like me, I tend to leave it blank (bad, I know! I just always find that I am totally out of time!)

~There are many card options to choose from, I have just shown a few here... I will bring samples to the photo session... I always need to see a sample product, the computer graphic of the card can only get you so far ;)

~Keep in mind the order time for these cards will be 5 days from the time you approve your proof!

~If 25 cards is not enough, you will of course have the option to purchase more cards... they must be ordered in packs of 25... Just something to keep in mind ;) Additional sets of 25 cards are $60 +tax.

Please email me with questions! adriana.klas@gmail.com

Now... For the Holiday Card Part :) Here are some fun examples of what you can choose from!

(Note that these are two different vertical options... not one single card option :) )

One more thing to note!... You still have the option to purchase the entire CD of images from your photo session! As well as professional prints through your online gallery! The holiday cards are just a bonus for you :)

What to Wear... The Hardest Part ;)

In this profession it is pretty standard that photographers wear black (or dark colors) to any event that we are photographing... Lucky for me my decision on what to wear is always super easy! However, I know what it is like to be on the other side of the camera and having to decide on what to wear... I think it is the hardest part of a photo session! So it is only natural that I get asked by my clients, "What should we/he/she/I wear for the photo session???" Here are some solutions that are hopefully helpful :)

Lets start with 3 Basic Tips that apply to everyone...

1.) It is A-Ok to have more than one outfit... actually, the more outfits you have the more photo options  you have to pick between :) Try and stick to 3 outfits and make sure that they vary enough for there to be an obvious difference... Don't get 3 red shirts that just fit different ;)

2.) Props! I love props! If you have something special you should bring it to the photo session! It is always nice to share a little something special and I think props tell a great story throughout the photos...

3.) Remember... You are hopefully going to love and cherish these photos and look at them for years to come!... So do not get carried away with the trendiest trends of the moment, I can guarantee you will look back at the photos in a few years and think "Why the heck did I wear that?!?!?" (I for sure have photos like that and I think to myself... why did no one tell me?! ;) )

So here we go...

For the Engaged Couple ~
You don't have to match :) You can color coordinate, but matching is not essential! Try to include some pattern... but nothing too heavy for The Bride to Be and her Fiance, too much pattern can be distracting and take away from the beautiful subjects! Feel free to accessorize... it can add great texture to any photo! You want to feel amazing in these photos so if that means a quick Mani/Pedi or a professional Blow Dry, go for it! Do what you need to do to make yourself feel great!

For The Engaged Bride to Be...

...and For Her Fiance...

(Some of these looks can also be applied to Mom and Dad for family photo sessions... Just a few ideas ;) )

...Now for the Kiddos! :)

For the Newborn/Baby Photo Session ~
These photos should show off your darling baby, that is why you are having these photos taken :) So I suggest keeping the colors simple, try and stick with a softer color palette. Have a few blankets ready that they can lay on, or snuggle in... This is a great place to include that very special hand knit blanket from Grandma ;) There is also something very sweet about your baby just lounging in their diaper... And I know I probably don't have to say it, but it is great to have a few extra outfits on hand because you never know when a "blow-out" might happen! (TMI... I know...)

For The Babies...

For the Kiddos! ~
It is always great to have color included in kiddo photos! After all, kiddos are fun and colorful little people ;) I know kids can get easily distracted so this is where I highly recommend coming with some props, or any item you don't mind being photographed...

For The Girls...

...For The Boys

I hope this helps make your planning a little easier! Feel free to leave a comment and let me know if this is at all helpful... Or if you have any suggestions :) Would love to hear from you!

I am so excited to be a guest blogger for one of my favorite, "go to" mommy blogs... Mommy Beta! When asked about doing a little write up for some tips for photographing your kiddos, I jumped right in and wanted to share some of my favorite photographing "secrets" ;)

Each of the writers/mothers for Mommy Beta is a first time mom and they each had their darling babies in 2010! As a first time mother it is a must read! It covers everything ;)

Thank you so much to the Mommy Beta ladies for letting me participate! Hope you enjoy the read! XO

The Originals... |Bay Area Photographer

A little side story...

So last weekend I was speaking with my Uncle John and we were talking all about photography and how much I am loving my "job" ;) (I have said it before and I'll say it again... I am so lucky to do what I love!)

Anyway... back to my little side story... Uncle John told me he remembers the day I received my first "real" camera! He and my mother were cleaning out my Grandpa Willett's garage and were deciding what they were going to do with all the "stuff." When they came to the camera my mom asked if she could pass the camera on to me seeing as I was "really getting into photography." (At this time I was around 10!) Of course Uncle John did not mind, and with that I received my first "real" camera! Obviously this camera is so special to me for so many reasons, but I just wanted to share how funny life is, that at such a young age something as simple as receiving my Grandpa's camera could have such an impact.

Here are some fun pics that I like to call "The Originals"... A special little tribute for my Grandpa Willett :)

My New Obsession!

For most of my photo shoots I carry around this huge backpack that weighs 1,000 lbs (ok, not that much, but a lot!) and I am the first to admit that it gets heavy (obviously) and I don't always want to carry it, especially if I am just going to the park with my son and want to just get a few photos of him! So, I was on the hunt for a fun/cute/practical camera bag and finally found one :) One of my friends actually bought it for me for my birthday and I could not be happier or more obsessed! It is perfect! It is enough for one camera body and a few lens options! Just what I need for a day at the park or a family outing! If you are in the market, I would for sure check out the SLR Sloop bag! Like I said... I am obsessed!

For Photographers... or Anyone with a Camera

I follow a few different photography blogs and one of my favorites is Paint The Moon Photography! Annie (the creator, you can follow her personal blog, Oh My Stars, which I think is so fun!) has some great Photoshop Actions and Templates and tons of "Freebies" that are always fun to play around with! Right now she is running a fun project called "Lets Do Project 52." Basically take a photo a week using one of the themes she suggests! It is a fun way for us photographers to learn from each other, stay inspired and to keep clicking!

Here is my photo for the week! Hope you enjoy :)

A Fun Project

On a random note that does not have much to do with photography, other than I took pictures... Here is a fun project for your toddler. My sister's birthday is this weekend and I realized we had no wrapping paper and the thought of getting to the store to buy some seemed impossible, so Conor came up with the idea of making his own ;)

1.) Cut up paper bags to create the size of "wrapping paper" you will need. In this case I needed to use 2 bags so I taped them together.

2.) Wrap your gift.. Seems easy enough :)

3.) Pull out all the crafting items you may need. We used paint, stamps, and stickers.

4.) Let them go to town on the box! He had a blast! (Please ignore the outfit, this was post nap and he refused to change...)

5.) Finish off your gift with a nice big bow :) Happy Birthday Auntie Melly!!!

6.) Don't forget to clean up ;)
